Privacy Policy

JobPocket ("we", "our", or "the extension") is a browser extension that helps you capture job listings, score your resume fit, and generate tailored resumes. This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights.

1. Data We Collect

• Google account email address — collected when you sign in with Google via OAuth. Used solely to identify your account.
• Resume content — the resume files you import are stored locally in your browser's extension storage (chrome.storage.local). They are only sent to the AI model when you explicitly request a Score Fit or Tailor Resume action.
• Job listing data — title, company, and description extracted from job pages you visit. Stored locally and sent to the AI model only when you trigger an action.
• Job tracker entries — jobs you choose to track (title, company, application status). Stored locally in your browser.
• Credit balance and purchase records — stored in our Supabase backend, linked to your account email.

2. How Data Is Used

• Your email is used to authenticate you and associate your credit balance with your account.
• Hosted mode — when you click Score Fit or Tailor Resume in hosted mode, your resume text and job description are sent from our Supabase backend to OpenAI's API for processing. OpenAI processes this data according to their API Data Usage Policy. We do not store or log the content of these requests on our servers.
• Local mode — when you use local mode, your resume text and job description are sent to a local Ollama instance running on your own machine. No data leaves your device.
• We do not sell your data. We do not use your data for advertising or cross-site tracking.

3. Data Storage

• Local storage — resumes, job data, tracker entries, and settings are stored in chrome.storage.local on your device. This data never leaves your browser unless you trigger an AI action.
• Supabase (cloud) — your email, credit balance, and transaction records are stored securely in our Supabase database hosted in the US.

4. Third-Party Services

• Google OAuth — used for sign-in. Governed by Google's Privacy Policy.
• OpenAI — in hosted mode, resume text and job descriptions are sent to OpenAI's API for AI-powered scoring and resume tailoring. OpenAI processes API data according to their API Data Usage Policy, which states that API inputs and outputs are not used to train their models.
• Supabase — used for authentication, credit management, and as the gateway for hosted AI requests. Governed by Supabase's Privacy Policy.
• Stripe — used for payment processing. We do not store payment card details. Governed by Stripe's Privacy Policy.
• Ollama (optional) — if you use Local mode, AI requests are sent to a local Ollama server running on your own machine. No data leaves your device.

5. Permissions Explained

• activeTab / scripting — to read the job listing on the page you are currently viewing, only when you click Extract Job.
• Host access (LinkedIn, Indeed, Glassdoor) — to extract job title, company, and description from job posting pages on these sites when you click Extract Job. The extension does not access these sites in the background or collect any data without your action.
• storage — to save your resumes, job data, and preferences locally.
• sidePanel — to display the JobPocket interface as a browser side panel.
• downloads — to export your tailored resume as a DOCX file to your device.
• identity — to sign you in with Google via OAuth.

6. Data Retention & Deletion

Local data can be cleared at any time by removing the extension or clearing browser storage. To delete your account and any cloud data (email, credits), contact us at support@jobpocket.app and we will remove it within 30 days.

7. Children's Privacy

JobPocket is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top will reflect any changes. Continued use of the extension after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
